Portland's
White House •
Portland, OR
(book
now)
Remarkably
similar to the D.C. landmark, the magnificent 1911 Portland’s
White House is reason enough to visit the city’s Northeast Historic
Irvington District. The former summer home of lumber baron Robert
Lytle has been exquisitely restored by innkeeper Lanning Blanks.
Sparkling European chandeliers, formal dining room, Grand Ballroom,
grand staircase, leaded glass windows, gilt-gold ceilings, and
trompe l’oeil are only the beginning: the White House features
extensive collections of porcelains, 18th and 19th century oils,
and a beautiful garden courtyard. A visit here is a visit to the
elegance and high style of 100 years ago but with today’s relaxed
conviviality.
